Overview

This quest moves the player from Bridgerun across to the Northrun ferry, where the Custodian shrine has gone silent. Most of the runtime is dialogue and exploration; the only puzzle is the chime sequence at the shrine outer gate.

Spoiler-light note: this guide covers mechanics. Story beats are intentionally summarized, not retold. Watch the video if you want the full scene.

Step-by-step

1. Start at Bridgerun

Talk to the harbormaster on the south end of the dock. He will only respond if you have already turned in the previous quest’s report at the League office.

2. Cross to Northrun

Take the ferry. While crossing, you’ll get an unmissable cutscene; you cannot abandon the quest after this point.

3. The chime sequence

At the outer shrine gate, three chimes hang in a row. The plaque reads:

“the high call, the low call, the call that does not move.”

Strike the chimes in this order:

  1. Right chime (high)
  2. Left chime (low)
  3. Center chime (mute — strike with the back of the hand)

Strike them out of order and the gate seals for 30 in-game seconds, no other penalty.

4. Inside the shrine

Talk to Iden Vesh. The conversation branches once. Either response advances the quest; the choice only changes one line of later dialogue.

5. Return to Bridgerun

The ferry trip back has its own short cutscene. Turn the quest in at the League office.

Common pitfalls

  • You ferry over without surf-capable Pokemon and get stuck. The return trip from Northrun requires Surf if the ferry is not running. The ferry stops between 9pm and 6am in-game. Just wait, or surf back.
  • You strike the chimes correctly but nothing happens. The plaque rotates between two languages depending on server time; verify which version you are reading. The video shows both.
